Dubai, September 25 – India sealed their place in the Asia Cup 2025 final with a convincing win over Bangladesh in Dubai on Wednesday, leaving the second finalist to be decided in the upcoming clash between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, continued their unbeaten run in the tournament with another dominant performance in the Super Four stage. Abhishek Sharma’s quickfire 37-ball 75 powered India to 168/6 in 20 overs. In reply, Bangladesh folded for 127 runs as Kuldeep Yadav picked three wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakravarthy bagged two each.

With this result, India became the first team to reach the final, while Sri Lanka were officially knocked out of the competition. The spotlight now shifts to Thursday’s Super Four fixture between Pakistan and Bangladesh, which will determine the second finalist.
For Pakistan, the equation is straightforward. A win against Bangladesh will take Salman Ali Agha’s side to four points from two matches, securing their place in the summit clash. Bangladesh face an identical scenario: victory over Pakistan will give them the same tally and a ticket to the final against India.
Bangladesh’s stand-in skipper Zaker Ali remained optimistic after the loss to India. “It’s quite surprising, but I take the preparation. All the credit goes to the boys, after ten overs they adjusted brilliantly. We can take lots of things from this game, we have another game tomorrow. We have to keep in mind that we can win tomorrow and play the final. Let’s see what kind of combination we are going to go but we will give our best,” he said.
Meanwhile, India’s last Super Four match against Sri Lanka has turned into a dead rubber, with no impact on the final qualification scenario.
Closing Update: Pakistan’s fortunes are firmly in their own hands. Their clash with Bangladesh on Thursday will be a virtual semifinal, with the winner booking a ticket to face India in the Asia Cup 2025 final.
