Al Jalila Foundation, the charitable arm of Dubai Health, has received a generous donation of AED 50 million from the Eissa Abdullah Abdullaziz Al Othman Endowment in Kuwait. The funds will go towards the construction and development of the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital, which will be Dubai’s first fully integrated, comprehensive cancer care facility.
The donation was officially confirmed at a signing ceremony held at Al Jalila Foundation. The event was attended by Dr. Amer Al Zarooni, CEO of Al Jalila Foundation, along with endowment trustees Yousef Eissa Al Othman, Nabil Eissa Al Othman, and Abdulla Eissa Al Othman. During the ceremony, the trustees were given a detailed presentation about the hospital project and the significant impact their contribution will have on healthcare in the region.
The delegation also took a tour of Dubai Health’s key facilities, including the Biobank and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Medical Research Institute. They were given insights into various initiatives supporting medical research, education, and patient care.

Dr. Amer Al Zarooni highlighted Dubai’s culture of sustainable giving and its efforts in building strong partnerships both locally and internationally. He expressed gratitude for the donation, saying that Dubai has built a strong culture of sustainable giving, fostering strategic partnerships locally and internationally. This generous contribution reflects a deep commitment to philanthropy and healthcare advancement, reinforcing the values of compassion and solidarity that define our society. He added that the donation will bring hope and comfort to cancer patients and their families, helping them through difficult times.
In recognition of this donation, the hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU) will be named ‘Critical Care Unit-Supported By Waqf Eissa Abdullah Al Othman and Waqf Tiba Abdullwahab Al Othman - Kuwait.’
Faisal Eissa Al Othman, representing the Endowment, expressed pride in collaborating with Al Jalila Foundation for this humanitarian project. He said they are proud to collaborate with Al Jalila Foundation on this humanitarian initiative, which honors the legacy of the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum. This hospital will provide essential, specialized care for cancer patients, ensuring they receive the best possible treatment and support. He further explained that the donation continues the legacy of Eissa Abdullah Abdullaziz Al Othman and Tiba Abdullwahab Abdullaziz Al Othman, who dedicated their lives to serving the community. He emphasized the importance of strengthening the healthcare sector and hoped this endowment would make a positive impact on cancer patients.
The Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital is part of Dubai Health and will be a 56,000 square metre facility designed to provide advanced cancer care under one roof. Once completed, it is expected to serve around 30,000 patients every year, offering specialized treatments and comprehensive support to those battling cancer. This contribution marks a major step in Dubai’s commitment to enhancing healthcare services and ensuring that patients receive world-class medical care.
