The Ajman Department of Municipality & Planning has announced that the total length of paved roads in the Emirate now stands at 1,120,234 linear meters, as per their report for the first half of 2024. This marks a significant achievement in the Department’s infrastructure development efforts.
Dr. Eng. Mohammed Ahmed bin Omair Al-Muhairi, Executive Director of the Department’s Infrastructure Development Sector, emphasized the strategic importance of infrastructure development. He stated, “Enhancing the attractiveness and livability of the Emirate is a key objective. Our ongoing efforts focus on providing integrated and sustainable transportation through comprehensive urban management and sustainable construction. This includes developing a smart geospatial system to facilitate access to desired destinations and improving road infrastructure quality.”
Dr. Eng. Omar also highlighted the progress made compared to the previous year. “Our qualified personnel have created comprehensive plans to ensure that all areas of Ajman are covered with high-standard paved roads. The total length of paved roads has increased by 58,846 linear meters from the first half of 2023, bringing the paved road percentage in the Emirate to 59.6%,” he noted.

The recent developments include new road packages commissioned by H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al-Nuaimi, Member of the Federal Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman. These improvements have reduced journey times and contributed to a better road network, benefiting residents, visitors, and tourists. “Our comprehensive plan aims to address the needs of the largest segments of society and expand the road network to match increasing usage,” Dr. Eng. Bin Omair added.
The Department is actively working on short, medium, and long-term road and infrastructure projects. Recent developments include the construction of new roads and the upgrading of existing ones in areas such as Al-Rowdha, Masfout, and Mohammed bin Zayed. These projects are designed to provide easier access to lands and homes and keep pace with the region's urban growth.
Dr. Eng. Bin Omair concluded by expressing his pride in the Emirate’s leadership and their continued support for developmental projects, which are instrumental in generating positive impacts across various aspects of life in Ajman.
