The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) is exploring the possibility of hosting a tri-series involving Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and organizing A team tours to Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. This plan was discussed at the recent International Cricket Council (ICC) Board Meeting held in Colombo, where ACB Chairman Mirwais Ashraf and CEO Naseeb Khan were present.

During the ICC meeting, Ashraf and Khan met with officials from Cricket South Africa, Cricket New Zealand, and Cricket West Indies to explore the chance of arranging a white-ball series before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The discussions included potential bilateral series and the proposed youth tri-series with Pakistan and the UAE. The exact dates and venues for these events are yet to be confirmed.
The ACB highlighted their recent successes, including Afghanistan's impressive performance in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The team, led by Rashid Khan, made headlines by defeating major teams like Australia and New Zealand, eventually reaching the semi-finals for the first time in an ICC event. Despite a loss to South Africa in the semi-finals, Afghanistan’s aggressive and entertaining cricket was lauded by the ICC leadership and other meeting participants.
The ACB continues to focus on expanding international opportunities for Afghanistan’s cricket teams and enhancing their competitive edge on the global stage.
