Last night, Khao Khitchakut National Park in Chanthaburi became a hub of spirituality as hundreds of devotees gathered for the revered Buddha footprint pilgrimage, which officially began for 2026 and will run until March 19.
As the evening wore on, steadfast pilgrims made their way up the mountainside, illuminating the paths with glowing lanterns. Many participants brought along traditional offerings, including flowers, incense, and candles, earnestly praying for prosperity, health, and joy in the upcoming year.
The footprint of Buddha at Khao Khitchakut is deemed a sacred site where the Buddha once stood. For generations, Buddhists from across Thailand have participated in this pilgrimage, convinced that a visit here imparts good luck, spiritual fulfillment, and tranquility.
Beyond being a religious experience, the pilgrimage serves as an opportunity for families and friends to unite, reflect on their lives, express gratitude, and welcome the new year with hopeful aspirations. Park officials have implemented measures to ensure the safety and respectfulness of all visitors amid the increasing attendance.
Attendees are encouraged to dress appropriately, comply with the park regulations, and uphold the sacred environment as they navigate the mountain. This annual pilgrimage stands as one of Thailand's most esteemed spiritual customs, drawing both locals and international travelers seeking profound experiences.
With lanterns casting a warm glow and prayers echoing through the night, Khao Khitchakut National Park remains a vibrant site where faith, aspiration, and devotion flourish each year.
