Under the directives of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent, the Authority has increased its total contribution to AED150 million in support of the Mother of the Nation Endowment for Orphans initiative.
The initiative was launched under the patronage of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, by Endowments and Minors’ Funds Authority - Awqaf Abu Dhabi. The project aims to provide sustainable support and long-term assistance to orphans across the country.
The new announcement comes after the Emirates Red Crescent had earlier pledged AED50 million at the launch of the initiative. Later, an additional AED100 million was added, bringing the Authority’s total contribution to AED150 million.
Officials said the move reflects the UAE’s strong commitment to promoting generosity and expanding sustainable humanitarian work. It also continues the legacy of the nation’s founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who established the country’s strong tradition of charity and humanitarian support.
The increased contribution also highlights the strong response the initiative has received from institutions, organizations, and individuals across the UAE. The programme focuses on supporting orphans by improving access to education, healthcare, and dignified living conditions.
The Emirates Red Crescent said it will continue to play an active role in national initiatives that strengthen social unity and encourage sustainable philanthropy. The initiative also aligns with the goals of the national “Year of the Family,” which promotes stronger family values and social cohesion.
The Mother of the Nation Endowment for Orphans aims to establish a sustainable endowment fund whose assets will be invested under a long-term model. The returns from these investments will be used to support orphans, helping improve their quality of life while building a stronger and more resilient society in the UAE.
