Explosions were heard over Dubai early Tuesday as the United Arab Emirates military intercepted incoming Iranian missiles and drones. Due to the threat, authorities briefly closed the country’s airspace before reopening it once the situation stabilized.
Residents in Dubai received emergency alerts as loud blasts echoed across the city. The attacks were part of ongoing tensions as Israel launched a new wave of large-scale strikes across Tehran.
The UAE confirmed it responded quickly to missile and drone threats. Flights resumed shortly after the temporary shutdown, but concerns remain high as attacks continue in the region.
A drone strike also caused a fire at an oil storage facility in Fujairah. Officials reported no injuries, but this marks another attack on the UAE’s energy infrastructure. A day earlier, a similar attack had set a fuel tank on fire at Dubai International Airport.
Meanwhile, Israel said it carried out a “wide-scale wave of strikes” across Tehran and increased attacks on Iran-backed Hezbollah in Beirut. The conflict has already displaced over one million people in Lebanon and caused hundreds of deaths.
Iran has continued firing missiles and drones toward Israel, U.S. bases, and Gulf countries since the conflict escalated weeks ago.
The crisis is also affecting global energy supply. The Strait of Hormuz, a key route for oil transport, is facing major disruptions. Shipping has slowed significantly after Iranian attacks on commercial vessels.
Oil prices have surged, with global benchmark Brent crude staying above $100 per barrel. The situation is raising fears of a global energy crisis.
Donald Trump said he has asked several countries to send warships to secure the Strait of Hormuz, but no firm commitments have been made yet.
The situation remains tense, with rising risks of further escalation across the Middle East.
