Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, has issued a decision to restructure the Board of Trustees of the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI). Sheikh Tahnoon, who also serves as Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council (AIATC), appointed His Excellency Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak as the new Chair of the Board.
The newly restructured board includes prominent figures such as His Excellency Jassem Mohamed Bu Ataba Al Zaabi, His Excellency Saif Saeed Ghobash, Rima Al Mokarrab Al Muhairi, Professor Daniela Rus, Dr. Lisa Su, Peng Xiao, Martin Edelman, and Professor Eric Xing.
Expressing his thoughts on the decision, Sheikh Tahnoon emphasized the UAE's pride in MBZUAI, calling it a remarkable scientific institution that highlights the nation's leadership in artificial intelligence. He noted that the university embodies the visionary approach of the country's leadership, aiming to build a future driven by innovation and knowledge.
MBZUAI is widely recognized as one of the top educational institutions in the world focused on artificial intelligence. It plays a vital role in fostering innovation by preparing future entrepreneurs and tackling significant global challenges. The university's research spans key sectors such as healthcare, transportation, environmental sustainability, energy, smart cities, and financial technology.
Since its establishment in January 2024, the AIATC has been at the forefront of developing strategies and policies related to artificial intelligence and advanced technologies in Abu Dhabi. The council plays a key role in promoting research, encouraging investments, and fostering collaborations with international and local partners, helping to position Abu Dhabi as a global leader in AI advancements.
