On Tuesday evening, Singapore's Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen reported that the Singapore Armed Forces deployed two F-15SG fighter jets to escort an Air India flight following a bomb threat. The aircraft, flight IX 684, was traveling from Madurai to Singapore when it received an email warning of a bomb on board, designated as AXB684.

In a series of updates posted on X, Minister Ng confirmed that the fighter jets were scrambled to ensure the safety of the aircraft as it approached Singapore, guiding it away from populated areas. The flight ultimately landed safely at Changi Airport at approximately 10:04 PM local time.

To enhance safety measures, Singapore activated its Ground Based Air Defence (GBAD) systems and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) units in response to the threat. Once the aircraft touched down, it was handed over to the airport police for further investigation.

Minister Ng expressed gratitude for the commitment and professionalism of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and the Home Team, emphasizing their role in maintaining safety amid potential threats. "Many thanks to the dedication and professionalism of our SAF and Home Team that keep us safe in our homes, even when threats exist around us," he noted.

The number of passengers aboard the flight was not disclosed, and there has been no immediate statement from Air India regarding the incident. Investigations into the bomb threat are currently ongoing.
