Major US stock indices ended higher on Tuesday, supported by strong gains in technology and semiconductor stocks. The rebound came after a volatile period in the markets, including a sharp decline on Monday.
According to preliminary data, the S&P 500 rose 52.70 points, or 0.77%, to close at 6,890.45. The Nasdaq Composite gained 239.91 points, or 1.06%, finishing at 22,867.18. The Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 377.40 points, or 0.77%, to settle at 49,181.46.
Technology shares led the rally, with semiconductor stocks posting notable gains. The market recovery reflects renewed investor confidence following recent fluctuations.
In the commodities market, gold prices declined from a three-week high. Spot gold was trading at $5,149.20 per ounce at the time of publishing. The drop comes as the US dollar strengthened and US Treasury yields showed mixed movement, reducing demand for the precious metal.
US gold futures for April delivery settled 0.9% lower at $5,176.30 per ounce.
Among other precious metals, spot silver fell 1.2% to $87.21 per ounce after reaching a two-week high in the previous session. In contrast, spot platinum rose 1% to $2,175.95, while palladium climbed 2.3% to $1,785.35.
Investors are now closely watching upcoming comments from Federal Reserve officials for further guidance on interest rates and market direction.
