The Organizing Committee for the ‘Sheikha Hind Women’s Sports Tournament’ has officially approved the competition schedule for the 12th edition of this prestigious annual sports event for women in the UAE. Recognized as one of the largest tournaments of its kind, this event is organized by the Dubai Sports Council under the esteemed patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai. The tournament is designed to both attract and nurture female sports talents while raising awareness of the significance of women participating in various sports.
The 12th edition of the Sheikha Hind Women’s Sports Tournament is set to commence on October 16 and will continue through to October 30, 2024. This year’s tournament will feature a diverse lineup of eight different sports disciplines, including bowling, running, padel, badminton, cycling, shooting, and hurdles. Notably, the tournament will introduce a new addition this year with a 3x3 basketball contest, adding to the excitement and variety of the competition.

Registration for the tournament will open on September 3, with a deadline set for October 4. Interested teams and players can register through the official tournament website (https://shwt.dubaisc.ae/), where participating institutions will need to create an account and upload the necessary documents to complete the registration process. The Organizing Committee has ensured that the registration process is streamlined and accessible, encouraging widespread participation from women across the UAE.
In preparation for the tournament, the Organizing Committee has also arranged for players to have the opportunity to train in key sports such as shooting, padel, and obstacle racing. Training for shooting will be available at the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center, while padel training can be accessed at the Just Padel Club in Port Rashid. Additionally, the BIA Warrior Club in Al Quoz will be open for those looking to practice obstacle racing, providing athletes with ample resources to hone their skills ahead of the competition.
The tournament schedule has been meticulously planned to ensure a smooth flow of events. The action will kick off on Wednesday, October 16, with the bowling competition at the Dubai International Bowling Centre in Al Mamzar. Following this, the running race will take place at Expo City Dubai on Thursday, October 17. The padel tournament is scheduled for October 18 to 20 at the Just Padel Club, setting the stage for intense and competitive matches. The badminton tournament will be held at Al Nasr Sports Club from October 21 to 24, followed by the cycling race at Expo City Dubai on Friday, October 25. The shooting championship will take place at the Fazza Shooting Range on Saturday, October 26, with the obstacle course event being held at the Gravity Gym on Sunday, October 27. The tournament will culminate with the highly anticipated 3x3 basketball championship at Al Nasr Sports Club from October 28 to 30.
The Organizing Committee is eager to attract as many contestants as possible, inviting women from government, semi-government, and private sector institutions to compete alongside female citizens and residents. This event offers a unique platform for women to showcase their athletic abilities and engage in healthy competition, all while promoting the importance of sports and physical activity in daily life.
