Sharjah Offers Free Public Parking on Sunday for Prophet's Birthday

Sharjah Municipality has announced that public parking in Sharjah will be free on Sunday, September 15, 2024, in celebration of the Prophet Muhammad's birthday. The exemption applies to all public parking areas, except those designated as paid zones throughout the week and on official holidays. These paid zones are identifiable by blue signboards.

Residents seeking clarification about parking regulations received confirmation from the authorities that free parking applies only to standard public parking areas and not to these blue sign zones, which remain fee-based every day, including holidays. The municipality advised the public to adhere to traffic regulations to avoid fines for parking violations.

In a related development, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has designated Sunday, September 15, 2024, as a paid public holiday for private sector employees in honor of the Prophet Muhammad's birthday. This holiday follows the UAE Cabinet Resolution that outlines official public holidays for both public and private sectors for the year 2024.

MoHRE extended its heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the UAE leadership, as well as to the country's citizens and residents, on this significant occasion.
