SEC Launches Sharjah Cyber Security Centre to Strengthen Digital Safety

H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, the Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council, led a regular meeting of the Council held on Tuesday at the Ruler’s Office. The meeting was attended by H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, the Deputy Ruler and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council.

During the meeting, various important topics were discussed. The Council talked about ways to improve and oversee the work of Sharjah's government departments. They also focused on improving laws and making sure that public services across the emirate are of the highest quality.

A key announcement made during the meeting was the establishment of the Sharjah Cyber Security Centre, which will operate under the Digital Sharjah umbrella. The center’s main aim is to create a complete system to keep information safe and secure. It will work on raising awareness about cybersecurity and train people to protect information in the best possible way.

The Cyber Security Centre will also develop rules and guidelines to ensure the safety of information and online activities. It will monitor whether government agencies in Sharjah are following these rules properly.

The centre will also collaborate with various public and private organizations, both locally and internationally, to strengthen efforts in cybersecurity. In addition to this, the centre will provide technical support and advice on information security. It will also partner with research groups to study topics related to online safety and security.
Another announcement made was the appointment of Abdul Nasser Obaid Ibrahim Bu Khater as the new Director of the Sharjah Cyber Security Centre.

The Council also discussed a proposed law that would oversee Sharjah's judicial system. This new law is meant to ensure that the judicial authority operates independently in Sharjah. It will clearly outline the roles and responsibilities of various parts of the judicial system, including the Judicial Council, the Judicial Department, the courts, the prosecution, judicial inspections, and regulations related to judges.

The Council decided to send the proposed law to the Sharjah Consultative Council for further discussion and final approval during their legislative session.
