Prince Harry's Recent Engagements Criticized as 'Dangerous' and 'Appalling

Prince Harry's recent engagements in Lesotho, South Africa, have come under scrutiny from royal experts, who claim his actions may exacerbate tensions with the Royal Family. Notably, royal biographer Angela Levin discussed these concerns on GB News, emphasizing that Harry's independent activities could be viewed as a challenge to royal authority.

During his trip, the Duke of Sussex was seen participating in various charity initiatives and meeting local royalty, but Levin expressed her belief that these solo engagements are ill-advised. “His eight solo engagements in nine days is a very interesting thing,” Levin noted. “He’s gone to all these charities he used to work with as a working royal, and I think it’s a way to say, ‘I don’t need the Royal Family; I can do this on my own and I can do this much better because everyone still loves me.’”

Levin described this attitude as “dangerous,” suggesting that the Royal Family may feel compelled to respond to Harry’s actions. “I think the Royal Family will come up with something because they can’t have this. It’s appalling,” she added, highlighting the potential implications of his solo efforts.

In defense of Harry, host Nana Akua pointed out the significance of his charitable work in Africa and questioned the fairness of the criticism directed at him. Levin countered by stating, “He wasn’t there for very long. Also, he tells us all how he doesn’t like the paparazzi and press; he was loving it out there.” She remained skeptical of Harry’s claims regarding his feelings towards media attention.

Harry’s trip to South Africa was primarily centered around his work with Sentebale, a charity he co-founded in 2006 to support vulnerable children in Southern Africa. The official Office of Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, provided updates on his visit through their Sussex.com website.

In a statement, they noted, “Today marked a significant moment as Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex – or Mohale, as he’s affectionately known by the Basotho people – commenced his trip to Lesotho, warmly welcomed by The King and Queen in a private meeting.” The statement emphasized that this occasion rekindled cherished connections from Harry’s childhood while also celebrating a remarkable milestone: the 200th anniversary of Lesotho.

Furthermore, the statement highlighted Harry's deep commitment to the region through Sentebale, noting that his efforts are rooted in a shared vision for sustainable development and empowerment. “The Duke holds a special place in his heart for this nation, particularly through his work with Sentebale, which was co-founded alongside Prince Seeiso,” it read.

As Prince Harry continues to engage in high-profile charity work independently, the dynamics of his relationship with the Royal Family remain a subject of significant public interest and debate. The mixed reactions to his recent activities underline the complexities of his position as a member of the royal family who has chosen a path of independence while maintaining strong ties to his charitable commitments.
