Dubai's Traffic Court has delivered a stringent sentence to a driver found guilty of operating a vehicle under the influence of narcotics. The Dubai Public Prosecution announced that the defendant received a two-year prison sentence along with a hefty fine of AED 100,000.
In a statement released on its official account on the "X" platform, the Public Prosecution detailed additional penalties imposed by the court. Following the completion of the prison term, the defendant will be prohibited from transferring or depositing any funds—either directly or through intermediaries—without obtaining prior approval from the UAE Central Bank. This restriction will remain in place for two years in coordination with the Ministry of Interior.
Moreover, the court has suspended the defendant’s driving license for one year and mandated their deportation from the UAE. The charges against the individual included drug use, driving under the influence of narcotics, operating an uninsured vehicle on public roads, and driving a vehicle with an expired registration.
