Dubai Crown Prince Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has approved a package of strategic initiatives designed to strengthen the role of families in society and improve the quality of life for citizens.
The initiatives were approved during the first 2026 meeting of the Higher Committee for Development and Citizens Affairs in Dubai. The plans align with the goals of the Dubai Social Agenda 33, which focuses on building a strong social system and supporting sustainable community development.
Focus on Emirati families
One of the key decisions was the launch of the second phase of the Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Family Programme. The programme aims to support the stability and growth of Emirati families through various social initiatives and development projects.
The programme has already shown strong results. Under the Dubai Weddings Programme, a total of 1,077 weddings have been organised so far, representing about 43.5% of all citizen weddings in Dubai. This marks a 44% increase compared with previous figures.
To improve coordination and implementation, Sheikh Hamdan also approved the formation of a special subcommittee to oversee the projects and initiatives under the family programme.
New initiatives for health and community life
The meeting also approved the launch of the Vibrant Dubai Initiative, a health and wellness programme designed for Dubai Government employees. The initiative focuses on improving physical and mental well-being through medical screenings, fitness assessments, and psychological readiness checks.
Another important project is the expansion of the Community Majalis Project, which aims to strengthen social connections in residential areas. Four new community majalis will be opened in Nad Al Sheba, Al Awir, Al Warqa, and Al Barsha South.
In addition, a third phase of the project will see five more majalis developed in Nad Al Hamar, Jumeirah, Ghadeer Al Tair, Al Twar, and Lehbab. The project has a budget of AED160 million, with construction expected to start in the second quarter of 2026 and completion planned for the third quarter of 2027.
New community spaces in Dubai
Sheikh Hamdan also approved the opening of a second branch of the Thukher Club at the Quranic Park, following the success of its first branch at Al Safa Park.
A new project called Barzat Dubai was also introduced. This initiative will create neighbourhood gathering spaces where residents can meet, interact, and strengthen social bonds.
The Community Development Authority and Dubai Municipality will work together to implement the project and explore opportunities to expand it across the emirate.
Vision for Dubai’s future
Sheikh Hamdan emphasized that strong families are the foundation of a strong society. He said investing in family stability will help build future generations capable of continuing Dubai’s progress and strengthening its global position.
These initiatives reflect the vision of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who believes that empowering families is essential for long-term social and economic development in Dubai.
