Dubai Police Organizes Awareness E-Scootercade Event

Dubai Police, in collaboration with the Positive Spirit Council, recently organized an awareness event known as the “scootercade” to educate e-scooter riders on traffic safety laws. The event took place along Bani Yas Street, falling under the jurisdiction of Naif Police Station.

Brigadier Omar Ashour Mousa, the Acting Director of Naif Police Station, addressed participants, highlighting the crucial importance of adhering to safety and security criteria, rules, and regulations in designated areas. He emphasized that following these guidelines is vital to ensuring the safety of all users.

Brigadier Mousa provided several key safety recommendations for e-scooter riders, including:

• Use of Permitted Roads: Riders should stick to designated paths and obey all traffic laws.
• Protective Gear: Wearing a proper helmet and a reflective vest is essential for visibility and safety.
• Lighting Requirements: Scooters must be equipped with a bright white reflective light at the front and a bright red reflective light at the rear.
• Functional Equipment: Ensuring that scooters have working brakes is critical for rider safety.

The scootercade aimed not only to promote safety among e-scooter users but also to curb negative behaviors that can lead to traffic accidents and road casualties. Brigadier Mousa explained, “This initiative focuses on educating all road users—drivers, passengers, and pedestrians—about their rights and responsibilities to ensure the highest levels of safety.”

By engaging the community through this event, Dubai Police seeks to foster a culture of awareness and responsibility among all road users, ultimately contributing to a safer environment for everyone.
