Dubai Police has handed out more than 325,250 iftar meals to drivers during the holy month of Ramadan as part of the “Ramadan Without Accidents” campaign. The aim of this initiative is to make the roads safer by encouraging drivers to be more careful, especially just before Maghrib (sunset), when people often rush to reach their destinations for iftar.
Focusing on a High-Risk Time
Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Director of the General Department of Traffic, explained that many road accidents happen during iftar time. As people hurry to get home or to restaurants, they sometimes speed or run red lights, which increases the risk of accidents.

To reduce these dangers, Dubai Police, along with several partners and volunteers, have been giving out iftar meals to drivers. The goal is to remind them to slow down, drive safely, and avoid rushing.

The campaign was made possible with the help of many organizations, including:
Roads and Transport Authority

Spreading the Message of Safe Driving
Major General Al Mazrouei pointed out that the iftar rush is a dangerous time on the roads. He urged drivers to be patient and plan ahead to avoid speeding or reckless driving.
He reminded everyone that it is better to arrive late but safe, rather than rushing and risking their lives.
Promoting Compassion and Unity
Al Mazrouei thanked all the volunteers and partner organizations for their support. He said that this campaign reflects the spirit of kindness and social unity that is deeply valued in the UAE, especially during Ramadan.
He also encouraged drivers to prioritize safety for themselves and others, with the hope that the campaign will help make Ramadan a time free of road accidents.
