The 'Talent Atelier' programme aims to enhance the skills and knowledge of emerging local designers. Under the guidance of L'ÉCOLE Middle East’s team of professional jewellers, gemologists, and art historians, participants engaged in an array of courses and lectures covering topics such as Art History, the World of Gemstones, and various jewellery-making techniques.

As part of their learning experience, participants enjoyed a special visit to the Al Safa Art and Design Library, where they explored L'ÉCOLE’s inaugural offsite library corner, featuring a curated selection of books on jewellery art.

The closing ceremony served as a vibrant celebration, bringing together the twelve creatives and representatives from Dubai Culture and L'ÉCOLE Middle East to award the participants their well-deserved certificates of completion. The event featured inspiring keynote speeches from notable figures, including Her Excellency Hala Badri, Director General of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority; Alessandro Maffi, President of Van Cleef & Arpels Middle East and India; and Sophie Claudel, Director of L'ÉCOLE Middle East.

In her address, Hala Badri expressed the Authority's pride in its strategic partnership with L'ÉCOLE Middle East. She emphasized Dubai's successful efforts to strengthen its global presence as a UNESCO city of design, establishing itself as a leading destination for design. “The ‘Talent Atelier’ programme is an inspiring platform for Emirati designers, encouraging them to develop their skills in jewellery-making, showcase their distinctive ideas and creativity, and contribute to enriching Dubai's creative landscape," she stated. Badri underscored the Authority's commitment to nurturing Emirati talent by providing a creative ecosystem that allows them to thrive and advance in this vital sector.

Alessandro Maffi echoed Badri's sentiments, stating, “Van Cleef & Arpels is thrilled to witness this long-standing partnership between L'ÉCOLE Middle East and Dubai Culture. By empowering the region’s local talent, we reinforce and foster the culture of jewellery art, paving the way for a new generation of Emirati designers.” He emphasized the importance of enhancing the designers' knowledge and skills, which will contribute to preserving the UAE's rich cultural and artistic heritage.

Sophie Claudel also praised the accomplishments of the designers, stating, “We are thrilled to celebrate the achievements of these designers during the first phase of the ‘Talent Atelier’ programme. It has been an honour to witness their growth, creativity, and dedication throughout this journey with us. We hope that the knowledge and skills they have gained will continue to inspire their future work.” Claudel highlighted the programme as a unique opportunity for collaboration, learning, and cultural exchange.

As part of the second phase of the programme, six of the participating designers will have the opportunity to be selected for a five-day educational journey to Paris in November 2024. This experience will include mentorship and the chance to delve deeper into the world of jewellery at L'ÉCOLE France & Europe's latest campus at the Hôtel de Mercy-Argenteau.

L'ÉCOLE Middle East is committed to supporting educational programmes that emphasize social impact. To this end, 100% of the proceeds from its public courses and talks will be donated to Dubai Cares youth education programmes, ensuring that children in developing countries gain access to quality education. These public courses will soon be available, offering further opportunities for individuals to engage with enriching educational experiences while supporting a meaningful cause.

The ‘Talent Atelier’ programme marks a significant milestone in the ongoing collaboration between Dubai Culture and L'ÉCOLE Middle East. Together, they continue to foster synergies and lay the groundwork for a vibrant cultural landscape in the region.
