China Criticizes G7 Statement on Ukraine War as 'Full of Arrogance, Prejudice, and Lies

China has strongly criticized the Group of Seven (G7) statement issued at the end of their summit in Italy, accusing it of containing "slanderous" attacks and falsehoods against China. The statement, released on Friday, targeted China on multiple fronts including its alleged supply of dual-use materials to Russia amid the Ukraine war and its activities in the South China Sea.

During a regular press briefing on Monday, China's foreign ministry spokesman Lin Jian denounced the G7 statement as "full of arrogance, prejudice, and lies." He dismissed the accusations against China regarding its support to Russia in Ukraine as baseless and lacking factual and moral justification.

The G7, consisting of the United States, Japan, France, Germany, Canada, Britain, and Italy, expressed concerns over China's actions in the South China Sea, labeling them as "dangerous" and criticizing its militarization efforts and coercive activities.

The statement also addressed economic issues, referencing concerns over China's industrial policies, subsidies, and alleged overcapacity in sectors like green energy. It highlighted the global implications of China's policies, accusing them of causing market distortions and harming international trade.

In response, Lin Jian rejected these claims, asserting that the G7's accusations on overcapacity were unfounded and aimed at promoting protectionism. He criticized the G7 as not representing the international community, describing it as a political tool used to maintain Western hegemony.

The tensions between China and the G7 come amidst broader trade disputes, including the European Union's plans to impose tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles due to concerns over subsidies and market fairness. These developments indicate a deepening rift in international relations, particularly between China and Western nations, over economic policies and geopolitical issues.
