Baby John Box Office Day 1: Varun Dhawan’s latest film, Baby John, had a rough start at the Indian box office on its opening day, failing to create much of an impression despite releasing on Christmas Day. The movie, a mass entertainer directed by Atlee, had high hopes of attracting large crowds, but it struggled to outshine its competition, especially Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun. In fact, the 21st-day collection of Pushpa 2 outperformed Baby John's opening day earnings.
Baby John hit theaters on December 25, starring Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh, and Wamiqa Gabbi. Although Christmas is a popular holiday for film releases, the movie did not manage to generate the audience turnout it expected. According to reports, the film crossed the Rs 10 crore mark on its opening day, which was considered underwhelming given the holiday release. As per Sacnilk’s box office report, the film earned approximately Rs 12.5 crore on December 25, which, while a decent start, wasn’t enough to rival the success of other films currently running in theaters.

Pushpa 2 Takes the Lead
While Baby John had a decent opening, it couldn’t match the box office performance of Pushpa 2, which continues to dominate. On the same day, Pushpa 2 earned an impressive Rs 20.7 crore, surpassing the opening day collection of Baby John. This comparison highlights the massive difference in the success of the two films, despite Baby John being released on the significant Christmas holiday.
More About Baby John’s Plot
The plot of Baby John centers around the character John, played by Varun Dhawan, a loving father to his daughter Khushi, portrayed by Zara Zyanna. John runs a small bakery and leads a quiet life with his family, away from his past. However, things take a turn when his true identity is revealed. Before becoming a family man, John was known as Satya Verma, a Deputy Commissioner of Police, whose past comes back to haunt him.
The film delves into Satya's past, where his dangerous profession clashed with his love life. He was in a relationship with Meera (played by Keerthy Suresh), a doctor who hoped he would leave his police career behind to start a family with her. While Satya reassures her that his job won’t interfere with their life, a personal threat forces him to confront his past once again. Along with his allies, Tara (played by Wamiqa Gabbi) and Ram Sevak (Rajpal Yadav), Satya sets out to take on his enemies.
The plot takes a deeper twist when Satya’s rival, Nanaji (played by Jackie Shroff), seeks revenge for his son’s death. The story centers around the conflicting motivations of two fathers, each driven by the need for revenge. While Nanaji’s pursuit of justice is deeply personal, it remains morally questionable.
Despite an intriguing storyline, Baby John's performance on its first day didn’t manage to impress audiences the way its makers had hoped, particularly when compared to the continued success of Pushpa 2. The film’s initial collection does suggest that it may need more time to build momentum at the box office, but it is still too early to tell how well it will do in the coming weeks.
