The UAE Finance Minister was in Kerala for the Invest Kerala Global Summit. He visited Kannur following a special invitation from Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, a well-known global health entrepreneur and a key mentor of the Beach Run. The marathon was integrated into the Kannur Beach Run to reflect the values of the UAE's 'Year of Community' celebrations. The UAE has long been a second home to many Malayalees, and this event symbolized the strong ties between the two regions.

The community run was officially flagged off by Assembly Speaker A N Shamseer. Renowned athlete Preeja Sreedharan also attended the event. More than 100 people, including Dr. Shamsheer and other participants, took part in the run. Minister Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, known for his passion for fitness, completed the 5km run in record time, earning appreciation from the crowd.

Speaking at the event, the minister expressed his joy at being part of the community run in Kerala. "In the UAE, 2025 has been declared the 'Year of Community' by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. I am delighted to participate in this meaningful event in Kerala with my friend Dr. Shamsheer," he said. He also mentioned his interest in joining the half-marathon next year.

The Kannur Beach Run was organized by the North Malabar Chamber of Commerce. This year, nearly 1,000 runners participated in various categories. Kerala’s biggest cash prize for a half-marathon was awarded at the event, which also saw the participation of six international athletes from Ethiopia.

In the men's 21km race, Ethiopian runner Kebede Berhanu Negash won first place, followed by Lokesh Choudhary in second and Akash MN in third. In the women’s half-marathon, Abetu Milkitu Muleta secured the top spot, while Hordoufa Meseret Diriba and Teku Bekelu Abebe came in second and third, respectively.

In the open 10km category, Madivalappa S Hamby won in the men’s section, and Nitu Kumari took first place in the women’s section. In the Members and Family 10km category, Dr. Binu Nambiar won the men's race, while Naveen Kumar claimed victory in the veterans’ 10km run. Jaimol K Joseph finished first in the women’s category.
For the 3km Health Awareness Run, Adarsh Gopi secured first place in the men’s division. In the Members and Family 3km category, Shyamalan CP and Nisha Vinod emerged as the winners in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively.

The event brought together people from different backgrounds to celebrate fitness, community service, and international friendship.
