Sultan bin Ahmed crowns winners of Sharjah Ruler's Show Jumping Cup

On Sunday evening, His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, the Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, presented the Longines Sharjah Prize Cup to the champion rider Luis Felipe. He rode his horse, "Sierra de Pedrox Z," to victory at the Sharjah Ruler's International Show Jumping Championship Cup. This prestigious five-star event took place at the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club.

The winner of the Longines Sharjah Cup, Luis Felipe, received a cash prize of 55,000 euros. The total prize money for this round was 165,000 euros, while the overall prize fund for the entire championship went beyond 550,000 euros. The best riders from different rounds were rewarded with these prizes for their outstanding performances.

Emirati rider Abdullah Humaid Al Muhairi finished in second place with his horse "Chakolo," while German rider Sophie Henners secured third place riding "Iron Dames Sinclair." His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed also honored the riders who qualified for the World Cup Final in Basel, Switzerland. These included three riders from the Middle East: Saudi Arabia's Ramzi Al Dahami, Emirati Omar Al Marzouqi, and Kuwaiti Ali Al Kharafi. Additionally, two riders from North Africa, Moroccans Abdel Kabir Dar and Sami Sharqawi, also qualified for the final.

A total of 169 male and female riders, along with 337 horses from 37 countries, competed in the championship. They took part in seven five-star international competitions, all of which were held on the sandy outdoor field at the Sharjah Equestrian Centre.

This championship is the fourth qualifying round of the Arab World Cup Show Jumping series. The first round happened at the Al Ain International Championship in December 2024. The second round took place at the four-star International Sailing Championship in January, followed by the third round at the Abu Dhabi International Championship later in the same month.

Besides the thrilling competitions, the championship offered many fun activities for visitors. Families and spectators enjoyed live music, light shows, and traditional performances. Some of the most exciting highlights included a saxophone performance, a spectacular light and music show, a traditional Al Ayala band, a police band performance, a light artist’s act, and a mesmerizing qanun player.

The organizing committee also arranged a special section with various restaurants and a lively market. Visitors could take part in daily activities, including games, competitions, and prize giveaways. Free workshops for children were also available, offering coloring, sand drawing, face painting, pony rides, and cartoon character performances.

The final day of the championship and the winners' ceremony were attended by Sheikh Abdullah bin Majid Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club; Sultan Al Yahyaei, Director General of the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club; Dr. Ghanem Mohammed Al Hajri, Secretary General of the UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation; and representatives from the International Equestrian Federation. Many honored guests, sponsors, and a large crowd of horse-riding fans were also present to witness this grand event.
