As the holy month of Ramadan nears, the UAE government has officially announced new working hours for employees in public sector undertakings (PSUs). During Ramadan, government employees will work from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, the working hours will be from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon. Compared to normal days, this means a reduction of two-and-a-half hours per day from Monday to Thursday and one-and-a-half hours on Fridays.

For employees working remotely, the work-from-home system will also follow the new schedule. Additionally, up to 70% of the government workforce can work remotely on Fridays. The official weekend remains Saturday and Sunday for most employees. However, in Sharjah, the weekend includes Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
On regular (non-Ramadan) days, government sector employees generally work from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. On Fridays, they finish work at noon. Meanwhile, government employees in Sharjah follow a different schedule, working Monday to Thursday from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, with an extended weekend.
Reports suggest that Ramadan fasting is expected to begin on March 1, although official confirmation is awaited. The UAE government continues to ensure that working hours are adjusted to support employees while maintaining productivity during the holy month.
