Dubai: The UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) has assured the public that local markets do not have the Maragatty brand chicken broth product, which was found to contain banned artificial colors.
In a statement shared on social media, MOCCAE confirmed that thorough inspections were carried out in cooperation with local authorities to ensure food safety. Officials have reassured consumers that they are continuously monitoring the market to prevent harmful products from reaching store shelves.

The announcement comes after Saudi Arabia recalled Maragatty brand chicken stock cubes last week due to the presence of harmful artificial colors. The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) took immediate action, ordering the removal of the product from stores and penalizing the importing company. The SFDA also urged people to stop using the product and safely dispose of any remaining stock they might have.
UAE’s Commitment to Food Safety
Earlier this year, MOCCAE highlighted that, along with the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology and other regulatory bodies, it is implementing strict measures to ensure food safety. These steps include monitoring food additives and colors used in food production.
The ministry stated that food safety standards are regularly updated based on scientific studies to protect public health. This move aligns with international food safety practices, including the recent decision by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to ban Red No. 3 dye from food and medicines.
The UAE has strict regulations on food color additives, setting safe limits based on global research and risk assessments. Imported food products go through detailed inspections, testing, and sampling before they are allowed for sale. MOCCAE emphasized that these safety checks help ensure that all food products in the UAE meet international health and safety standards.
This development reflects the UAE’s ongoing commitment to protecting consumers by enforcing high food safety standards and keeping harmful products out of local markets.
