UNICEF has called for an immediate stop to the violence in Gaza and urged Israel to lift its ban on humanitarian aid to the region. The ban has been in place since March 2.

According to the United Nations, Israel's recent military actions in Gaza have caused severe harm to children. In just the past 10 days, at least 322 children have been killed and 609 have been injured. The attacks also hit Al Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza on March 23, which led to more casualties among children.

Many of these children are displaced, living in makeshift tents or damaged homes, struggling to survive amidst the violence. Israel's bombing campaign, which resumed on March 18 after a two-month ceasefire, has once again pushed Gaza’s children into extreme danger and suffering.

Catherine Russell, the Executive Director of UNICEF, stated that the temporary ceasefire had offered some hope and relief for Gaza’s children, but now the ongoing violence has dashed those hopes. She emphasized that all sides involved in the conflict must follow international law to protect children.

Since the beginning of the war, nearly 15,000 children have been killed, more than 34,000 injured, and almost one million children have been forced to flee their homes, becoming displaced multiple times. They are also being denied basic services that are crucial for their survival.

UNICEF also mentioned that the situation in Gaza has worsened, with food, clean water, shelter, and medical care becoming scarce. Without access to these essential supplies, children are at risk of malnutrition, disease, and other preventable health problems, leading to more deaths that could have been avoided. UNICEF strongly urges the world to take action and stop the suffering and killing of children in Gaza.
