Andrea Belluso, a well-known photographer, shared an important message at the 9th edition of the International Photography Festival (Xposure) in Sharjah. Through his project ‘Art for Nature,’ he reminded everyone that the planet is not dying, but humans are.
“The planet will continue to thrive even if we are gone,” Belluso said during his talk, ‘Arts for Future, Nurturing the Planet through Arts.’ He explained that, as a fashion photographer, his way of helping the environment is by inviting people to appreciate the beauty of nature through his art.
His project, ‘Art for Nature,’ was showcased at the festival, which is taking place at Aljada, Sharjah, from February 20 to 26, 2025. This initiative, which he started four years ago, aims to support environmental conservation efforts. Seventy percent of the money earned from selling his artwork goes directly to projects that help heal the planet. Belluso ensures that the funds are used wisely, avoiding unnecessary expenses.

During his presentation, Belluso displayed a collection of photographs featuring models, including the main ballerina of the Royal Opera House in London. These photos were taken in the Calakmul rainforest in Mexico, and the earnings from their sale are being used to protect the rainforest. His expert use of lighting in these prints beautifully highlighted the connection between humans and nature.
Pointing to one of his prints, which included a jaguar in the background, he shared a positive update: conservation efforts in Calakmul have led to an increase in the jaguar population. “Creativity for me means stepping out of my comfort zone,” he added.
Belluso also explained how his project tells a story through pictures. It is divided into different themes, including blending humans with nature, capturing the spirit of the forest, and using light as a storytelling tool. He emphasized that by changing our perspective, we can see reality in a new way.
His passion and skill in using light have made him a highly sought-after photographer, working on projects ranging from car advertisements to food photography.
“The planet is just fine without us,” he said, urging people to connect more with nature and avoid distractions that pull them away from it.
Xposure, organized by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), is one of the biggest photography events in the world. This year, it features over 100 galleries, displaying more than 2,500 photographs by over 300 well-known photographers. The festival brings together artists, experts, and photography lovers from around the world to celebrate the power of visual storytelling.
