As part of its Academic Degree Project, the Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi Centre is celebrating the honorary doctorate awarded to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The university also praised his efforts in promoting cultural understanding and cooperation between different nations and civilizations.

Beyond his cultural efforts, the honorary doctorate also acknowledged HH the Ruler of Sharjah’s role in Sharjah’s development, particularly in education, arts, and progress across various fields. The Honorary Doctorate Ceremony
When His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi visited the University of Sheffield, he was formally welcomed by Sir Peter Middleton, the university’s Chancellor, along with Vice Chancellor Professor Keith Burnett, Deputy Vice Chancellor for External Relations Professor Dominic Shellard, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Dr. David Fletcher. Many faculty members, department heads, professors, and senior officials were also present.

Before the award ceremony, His Highness attended a meeting to discuss future collaborations between the University of Sheffield and the University of Sharjah. Following the meeting, he was ceremoniously dressed in the doctoral gown and led a formal procession to the university’s main hall, where the official ceremony took place.

During the event, students from the University of Sheffield performed a play in English titled "Nimrod", which was written by HH the Ruler of Sharjah. The performance was an example of how cultural and creative exchanges help develop the world of theatre and strengthen relationships between different institutions.

He spoke about His Highness’s role in building strong academic ties between the University of Sharjah, the American University of Sharjah, and top international institutions. He also expressed pride in Sheffield University’s partnership with the University of Sharjah in offering a biotechnology degree program.

After his speech, Sir Peter Middleton formally invited His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi to accept the honorary Doctorate in Literature from the University of Sheffield. He described this moment as a great honor for the university, as they had the opportunity to recognize a leader who had made exceptional contributions to education, culture, and heritage.
