During his visit to Empower’s booth, Sheikh Ahmed, accompanied by H.E. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, was introduced to the company’s flagship project in Business Bay, which holds the Guinness World Record for the highest capacity district cooling plant. H.E. Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, provided insights into the project, which boasts an impressive ultimate cooling capacity of 451,540 refrigeration tons (RT).
The Business Bay project comprises nine plants, with four currently operational, supplying cooling to 188 mixed-use buildings and skyscrapers via a comprehensive pipeline network stretching 52.4 kilometers. Bin Shafar emphasized Empower’s significant achievements this year, along with the global accolades the company has received.
“WETEX has established itself as one of the premier exhibitions worldwide in the water, energy, technology, and environment sectors,” remarked Ahmad Bin Shafar, highlighting the event's importance in fostering collaboration across various segments of the energy sector.
WETEX 2024 is set to provide a dynamic platform for participants and visitors, creating opportunities for cooperation in commercial and technological spheres. The exhibition aims to connect investors, decision-makers, and institutions, enabling them to forge strategic partnerships, exchange knowledge, and explore the latest technologies while addressing market demands.
Bin Shafar noted that the growing demand for district cooling services is fueled by the necessity for sustainable solutions that leverage advanced technologies to minimize costs. Additionally, businesses are increasingly motivated to contribute positively to environmental sustainability and to mitigate carbon emissions at both local and global levels.
