Dubai’s RTA Unveils UAE’s First Professional Engineering Career Path and Fast Track Programs Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched two pioneering initiatives aimed at advancing the careers of Emirati engineers: the Professional Engineering Career Path and the Fast Track program. These initiatives, marking the first of their kind in the UAE, are designed to address the evolving needs of the engineering sector and ensure long-term job stability for engineers.

The Professional Engineering Career Path initiative, set to launch in the fourth quarter of 2024, offers a structured career progression exclusively for engineers within RTA. This program introduces a clear career ladder that aligns with market needs, enabling engineers to advance from "Engineer" at Grade 11 to "Consultant Engineer" at Grade 16. The goal is to foster a competitive environment, enhance job satisfaction, and improve productivity among Emirati engineers, leading to senior leadership roles.

The Fast Track program, scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2025, targets exceptional Emirati engineering graduates with outstanding academic records. This two-year program provides intensive technical and administrative training, mentoring, and job rotations, facilitating rapid career progression from "Engineer" at Grade 11 to "Senior Engineer" at Grade 13. Participants will gain specialized training, professional certifications, and engage in technical project assignments to develop their skills for advanced roles within RTA.

To qualify for the Professional Engineering Career Path, candidates must hold a university degree in engineering from an accredited institution, have a minimum GPA of 3.0, and be recent graduates with no more than two years of experience. Applicants should be UAE nationals aged between 21 and 26, proficient in Arabic and English, have completed National and Reserve Service, and pass selection tests and interviews. Professional certifications, experience, and job vacancy availability will also be considered.

The Fast Track program is aimed at Emirati engineering graduates with exceptional academic achievements. It focuses on accelerating career growth through comprehensive training and development, preparing graduates for leadership and specialized roles within RTA.

These initiatives align with the UAE’s strategic goals for Emiratisation and national talent development. They reflect RTA’s commitment to nurturing young Emiratis and fostering an environment that encourages innovation and excellence. By investing in these career development programs, RTA aims to enhance job stability, support career advancement, and build a highly skilled engineering workforce for the future.

RTA currently employs over 230 Emirati engineers and specialists across various engineering disciplines, including civil, electrical, mechanical, structural, architectural, and computer engineering. The introduction of these initiatives underscores RTA’s dedication to advancing the professional capabilities of its engineering staff and contributing to national development goals
