Ramadan 2025 in UAE: Key Timing Changes You Need to Know

During Ramadan in 2025, there will be several important changes in the UAE to help make life easier for people observing the holy month. Ramadan is a time for fasting, prayers, and charity, and it’s expected to start on March 1. Here's what to expect during this special time:

Working Hours
In the UAE, the working hours for private sector employees are reduced during Ramadan. The working day is shortened by two hours, as per government rules. Even non-Muslim workers are allowed to take advantage of these shorter hours, and there will be no salary deductions for them.

Paid Parking
The timing for paid parking will be different during Ramadan. Normally, parking fees are from 8 AM to 10 PM. But during Ramadan, the timings change to 8 AM to 6 PM, and then again from 8 PM to 10 PM. However, parking in multistorey buildings will still be charged 24/7, as usual.

Salik Toll Charges
Dubai's Salik toll system also adjusts its charges during Ramadan. The usual toll times are from 9 AM to 5 PM, when the toll is Dh6. Off-peak times are from 7 AM to 9 AM and 5 PM to 2 AM, when the toll is Dh4. On Sundays, there is a charge of Dh4 at all hours except between 2 AM and 7 AM.

School Hours
Although no official announcement has been made for school timings in 2025, it is expected that schools will follow the same schedule as last year. In 2024, private schools in Dubai were told to limit their hours to a maximum of five hours per day, with classes ending by 12 PM on Fridays.

Opening Hours of Shops and Malls
Supermarkets and grocery shops will operate as usual. However, malls will stay open late into the night to help those observing Ramadan. Restaurants will mostly remain closed during the day, respecting fasting hours, but some may offer food and drinks for takeaway, delivery, or in enclosed areas.

These changes are made to make life more convenient during Ramadan and show respect for the practices of those fasting.
