Pakistan defeats Zimbabwe by 99 runs to win ODI series

Kamran Ghulam scored his first-ever century in One Day International (ODI) cricket, helping Pakistan win by 99 runs against Zimbabwe on Thursday. This win gave Pakistan the ODI series with a 2-1 victory after three matches.

Pakistan decided to bat first and scored a strong total of 303 runs at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. Kamran Ghulam was the star of the innings, making 103 runs. Abdullah Shafique also played well, scoring 50 runs. While Pakistan's batsmen all started well, no one could make a very big score. However, in the last five overs of Pakistan's batting, Zimbabwe’s bowlers were not very accurate, and Pakistan added 69 runs to their total. This helped them reach 303 runs.

Zimbabwe began their chase of 304 runs, but they had a tough time from the start. Their captain, Craig Ervine, made 51 runs, but the team couldn’t keep up with the required run rate. Pakistan’s bowlers did well, making sure Zimbabwe’s batsmen couldn’t build any big partnerships. In the end, Zimbabwe was bowled out for just 204 runs in 40.1 overs, falling 99 runs short of Pakistan’s total.

The series started with a surprise as Zimbabwe won the first match on Sunday by 80 runs using the DLS method, which made people think the series could go either way. But Pakistan came back strong in the second match, winning by 10 wickets and leveling the series at 1-1. Then, with Thursday's win, Pakistan took the series 2-1.
Now, both teams will play against each other again, but this time in a different format. They will compete in a three-match Twenty20 (T20) series, starting on Sunday at Queens Sports Club.
