H.H. Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA), announced that the Sultanate of Oman will be the Guest of Honour at the 45th Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF).
The selection honours Oman’s contributions to Arab literature and culture and highlights its intellectual presence across the Gulf and Arab world. Sheikha Bodour said Oman’s participation celebrates Arab and Gulf cultural depth and strengthens ties with the UAE through shared values, language, and heritage.
Oman’s presence at SIBF will allow visitors to explore its literary and artistic diversity, meet leading writers and thinkers, and experience the nation’s creative achievements across literature, poetry, theatre, fiction, visual arts, and music.
The announcement followed an agreement signed by Said bin Sultan bin Yarub Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for Culture of Oman, and Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, CEO of the SBA. Al Busaidi highlighted that the programme will showcase Oman’s cultural heritage, strengthen the global presence of Omani creatives, and promote collaborations with Arab and international publishers.
Al Ameri noted that the Guest of Honour initiative reflects the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, placing culture and books at the heart of Sharjah’s civilisational project. The pavilion will bring together writers, publishers, and thinkers from around the world, promoting cultural exchange and expanding the global reach of Arab books.
The 45th SIBF will host a wide range of Omani literary and cultural events, offering audiences insight into Oman’s rich intellectual and creative contributions.
