Dr. Nazir Ayyad, the Grand Mufti of the Republic, has affirmed the truth of the miraculous journey of Isra and Mi'raj undertaken by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). He addressed this matter in response to doubts raised by some individuals who question this significant event in Islamic history.

During a phone interview on the "Hadrat Al-Mowaten" program, the Mufti explained that those who deny the Isra and Mi'raj journey are often motivated by either personal bias, a desire to reject certain religious teachings or a general hostility toward Islam. He emphasized that the journey is firmly established in the Holy Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet and is far from being a fictional tale or a mere vision in a dream.
The Mufti clarified that the Isra and Mi'raj journey was a real experience involving both the body and the soul of the Prophet Muhammad. He highlighted its mention in the Holy Qur'an, specifically in Surat Al-Isra and Surat An-Najm. Referring to Quranic verses, he cited the words of Allah: "Glory be to Him who took His servant by night from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al-Aqsa, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him some of Our signs. Indeed, it is He who is the Hearing, the Seeing." This verse, he explained, stands as clear evidence of the truth of this miraculous journey.
Dr. Ayyad further stressed that doubting this journey reflects a lack of understanding of Allah’s boundless power. He pointed out that denying this miracle could lead to rejecting other miracles mentioned in the Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet. He urged Muslims to turn to the Qur'an and Sunnah as their primary sources of guidance in understanding Islam and its teachings.
In his message, the Grand Mufti called on believers to strengthen their faith and not to be swayed by doubts or misinformation. He reminded everyone that miracles are a testament to Allah’s greatness and serve as signs to strengthen the faith of believers.
