Jagdeep Singh, also known as Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, who is accused of being involved in the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, has been shifted from Punjab to Silchar Central Jail in Assam. Officials confirmed the transfer on Monday.
The Punjab Police transported Singh from Bhatinda Jail on a special flight. He was taken to Silchar Jail late on Sunday night, where he is now being held.
According to officials, the decision to move Singh was based on intelligence reports and investigations. These reports revealed that he was allegedly involved in coordinating drug trafficking operations from inside the jail by using mobile phones. To break this network, authorities decided to relocate him to Assam.

In addition to his suspected role in Moosewala’s murder in 2022, Singh has a long criminal record. Since 2012, 128 cases have been registered against him. These include multiple murder charges, extortion cases, and offenses under the Arms Act. He also faces 12 cases related to drug trafficking under the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act.
Officials stated that Singh had built strong connections with international criminal networks in Canada, the USA, and Pakistan. Shifting him to a different jail was necessary to disrupt his alleged criminal activities, which were still being operated from behind bars.
To ensure tight security, Singh has been placed in a special cell in Silchar Jail. Security around the jail has also been significantly increased to prevent any further illegal activities or potential security threats.
