Dubai Health's Latifa Hospital has been officially recognized as a ‘Baby-Friendly Hospital’ by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). This important accreditation comes under the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI), which focuses on improving maternal and newborn care worldwide. The recognition highlights Latifa Hospital’s efforts in providing top-quality care for mothers and newborns, ensuring safe childbirth, and promoting breastfeeding.
Dr. Muna Tahlak, Chief Medical Officer at Dubai Health, expressed her pride in this achievement. She said, "Latifa Hospital’s accreditation under the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative shows our commitment to excellent healthcare for mothers and babies. We always follow the best medical practices to provide a safe and comfortable experience for both mothers and their families. Our goal is to strengthen community health and ensure that every mother and newborn gets the best possible care."

Dr. Tahlak also thanked the medical teams at Latifa Hospital, including doctors, nurses, midwives, lactation consultants, and administrative staff. She praised their hard work and dedication in supporting Dubai Health’s 'Patient First' promise. She further added that the hospital will continue to improve maternal and newborn healthcare services.
High Standards in Maternal and Newborn Care
Latifa Hospital’s accreditation reflects its dedication to meeting the highest healthcare standards set by WHO and UNICEF. The hospital provides full antenatal care, which includes regular check-ups, psychological support, and nutritional guidance for expectant mothers. This ensures that both the mother and baby remain healthy throughout pregnancy.
The hospital’s labor and delivery units are designed to provide a safe and comfortable birthing experience. If a newborn requires special medical attention, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is fully equipped to provide advanced care. Additionally, Latifa Hospital conducts educational workshops to teach new mothers about postnatal care and infant health.
A Strong Focus on Mother and Baby Well-Being
Beyond meeting accreditation standards, Latifa Hospital is dedicated to ensuring the long-term health of mothers and their babies. The hospital actively promotes breastfeeding through counseling programs, educating mothers about its health benefits. Breastfeeding is essential in a child’s early months, providing important nutrients and strengthening the bond between mother and baby.
Latifa Hospital also follows best practices to create a childbirth-friendly environment. It focuses on reducing unnecessary medical interventions, and ensuring a natural and comfortable birth process whenever possible. The hospital’s goal is to make childbirth a safe and positive experience while prioritizing the health and comfort of both mother and child.
This achievement reinforces Dubai Health’s commitment to improving healthcare for mothers and newborns. It aligns with Dubai’s vision of building a healthier and stronger community by providing world-class medical services.
