During his visit, Sheikh Khaled explored several parts of the hub and learned about its different initiatives and projects. One of these projects is Majlisna, an initiative by the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority that aims to revive traditional Emirati social gatherings. Another major project includes recreational activities organized by the Department of Municipalities and Transport – Abu Dhabi. He also reviewed the Abu Dhabi Gaming initiative, which is led by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi and is based at Nabdh Al Falah.
While touring the hub, Sheikh Khaled directed officials to expand such community hubs across Abu Dhabi. His vision is to enhance social well-being, offer diverse high-quality programs, and create interactive spaces that bring people closer together.
Sheikh Khaled emphasized the importance of listening to the community to understand their needs and aspirations. He believes that this will help strengthen relationships among people and support the development of a strong and connected society in Abu Dhabi.
Officials briefed him on the hub’s various facilities and programs, which are designed in partnership with government, private, and non-profit organizations. These programs offer workshops and activities for different age groups, including children, youth, families, and senior citizens.
Sheikh Khaled also visited different halls of the hub, which are specially designed to meet the needs of the local community. These spaces aim to empower young people by providing opportunities to develop their skills and prepare them to contribute to Abu Dhabi’s economy, which is increasingly driven by knowledge and innovation.
He reaffirmed that building a socially inclusive and connected community is a top priority for the UAE’s leadership. He also highlighted how this initiative aligns with the Year of Community, which was introduced by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to promote unity and encourage everyone to take an active role in shaping their community.
Sheikh Khaled also recognized the key role of Nabdh Al Falah and other similar community hubs in bringing people together and offering a range of high-quality social services. These hubs are built with modern facilities and engaging spaces that help foster meaningful connections among residents, leading to a more united society.
His Excellency Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the DCD, stated that the opening of Nabdh Al Falah marks a major step in creating integrated community hubs. He emphasized that Abu Dhabi is committed to developing projects and initiatives that serve individuals and families, improve quality of life, and create a sustainable future for the next generations.
He further explained that Nabdh Al Falah represents the leadership’s vision of increasing social participation, strengthening community ties, and promoting cooperation and solidarity. This aligns with the decision to declare 2025 as the Year of Community in the UAE. He highlighted that the hub is part of the “Voice of the Community” approach, where DCD actively listens to residents to design projects that meet their needs.
His Excellency Mohamed Helal Al Balooshi, Executive Director of the Community Engagement and Sports Sector at DCD, shared his enthusiasm about the expansion of these hubs. He said that Nabdh community hubs will play a crucial role in shaping Abu Dhabi’s social sector by providing spaces that encourage interaction and participation among all community members.
He also pointed out that the hub features a multi-purpose hall for hosting community events, designated areas for programs and workshops, and facilities that promote a healthy lifestyle. These include sports fields, walking and cycling tracks, and spaces designed for families and youth, catering to both Emiratis and residents alike.
In its first few months, the Nabdh Al Falah hub is set to host more than 145 programs in collaboration with over 38 organizations. These programs will cover five key areas: social and recreational activities, sports and well-being, learning and skill development, social support, and cultural and national identity programs.
Sheikh Khaled was accompanied during his visit by several high-ranking officials, including Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the Department of Community Development – Abu Dhabi; Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of the Department of Municipalities and Transport; Sara Awadh Musallam, Chairperson of the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge; Saif Saeed Ghobash, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council; Sana bint Mohammed Suhail, Minister of Family; and Engineer Hamad Ali Al Dhaheri, Undersecretary of the Department of Community Development – Abu Dhabi.
With the expansion of these hubs, Abu Dhabi is taking strong steps towards building a more inclusive and engaged community where people from all backgrounds can connect, learn, and grow together.
