Israel agreed on Tuesday to have talks with Lebanon, the US, and France to discuss the border between Israel and Lebanon. Israel also decided to release five Lebanese people held by its military. This was seen as a "gesture to the Lebanese president."
Lebanon said it received four of the hostages from Israel, and the fifth one will be freed on Wednesday. Lebanese news reports said the released hostages arrived at a hospital in the southern city of Tyre.

Morgan Ortagus, the US Deputy Presidential Special Envoy, said on social media that the US was helping Lebanon and Israel to talk about solving problems between the two countries. She also said all the countries involved promised to keep the peace.
Even though Israel withdrew most of its soldiers from southern Lebanon after a ceasefire was agreed in November, Israel still controls five areas in the region. Israel has also carried out airstrikes in southern Lebanon, claiming they were targeting Hezbollah.
The ceasefire ended over a year of fighting between Israel’s military and the Lebanese group Hezbollah. This fighting also happened at the same time as the war in Gaza. The fighting reached its worst point during a major Israeli air and ground attack that forced over a million people in Lebanon to leave their homes. The attacks also badly weakened Hezbollah, killing most of its top leaders.
