Hamdan bin Mohammed holds meets with Alibaba Group Chairman at WGS 2025

Dubai's Crown Prince, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, met with Joseph C. Tsai, the Co-founder and Chairman of Alibaba Group, during the World Governments Summit 2025. Alibaba is a major international company known for its work in e-commerce, retail, the Internet, and technology.

During the meeting, Sheikh Hamdan spoke about Dubai’s focus on working with top global technology companies. He said that Dubai is building a strong digital economy and welcomes businesses that want to grow in this space. He also mentioned that Dubai’s modern technology, business-friendly policies, and reputation as a trade and innovation hub make it the perfect place for companies like Alibaba to expand.

Sheikh Hamdan highlighted that forming partnerships with big international companies is key to achieving Dubai’s goal of becoming a global leader in the digital economy. This is also part of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to generate AED 100 billion every year through digital transformation projects.

During the discussion, both sides talked about how digital commerce is evolving, how artificial intelligence (AI) is changing the retail industry, and how new financial technologies are shaping the future. They also explored the role of smart logistics in helping businesses grow faster. Sheikh Hamdan and Tsai exchanged ideas on how advanced technology can strengthen global trade, improve economic stability, and support long-term growth.

The meeting was attended by several key officials, including His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications; His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade; and His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

Earlier in the day, Joseph C. Tsai participated in a special discussion at the World Governments Summit, where he spoke about the future of artificial intelligence and how it is playing a bigger role in boosting economic growth.
