Flight Attendant Faces Charges for Filming Minors in Plane Toilet

New Delhi: The family of one of the victims is suing the 36-year-old American Airlines flight attendant who was detained for allegedly filming kids in aeroplane lavatories, as well as the airline corporation that employed him. Estes Carter Thompson III, a flight attendant, was arrested on January 18 following allegations that he secretly recorded multiple young girls during flights, resulting in a severe legal impact for American Airlines. The initial accusations resulted from an incident in September in which a 14-year-old girl discovered an iPhone taped to the toilet while on a trip from Charlotte, North Carolina, to Boston. Subsequently, the girl's family sued the airline.

A federal probe has since unearthed even more troubling information. According to the report, four previous victims, including a 9-year-old girl from Texas, have been identified in connection with Thompson's alleged crimes. The 9-year-old's parents have filed a complaint, alleging that Thompson videotaped their child on a flight to Los Angeles in January 2023, on their way to Disney World for a gymnastics meet.

The FBI apparently found obscene photographs from Thompson's iCloud account, purportedly depicting the 9-year-old victim's face, buttocks, and genitals. According to the article, the young victim is still suffering from dread and worry as a result of the occurrence.

Thompson is facing significant charges, including one count of attempted sexual exploitation of children and one count of possessing child pornography portraying a prepubescent kid, notably in the case involving the 14-year-old victim.

During a trip, Thompson allegedly sent the 14-year-old victim to the first-class restroom, citing a defective toilet seat in the nearby lavatory. This redirection resulted in the finding of red stickers on the toilet seat lid bearing the words "INOPERATIVE CATERING EQUIPMENT" and "REMOVE FROM SERVICE". The girl took a photograph of an iPhone clumsily taped to the seat with its torch switched on, which proved crucial in revealing the hidden camera.

The ensuing encounter between the girl's father and Thompson took place as the aeroplane approached Boston, when officials discovered 11 more stickers in the restroom. Thompson then locked himself in the toilet with his phone, sparking concerns about possible evidence tampering.

Authorities investigating Thompson's iCloud account discovered four further occasions between January and August 2023 in which he reportedly videotaped juvenile children ages 7, 9, 11, and 14. Officials also discovered hundreds of AI-generated child pornography photographs kept in Thompson's iCloud account.
