Islamabad: A powerful explosion in the Khuzdar district of Pakistan’s Balochistan province killed five people and injured five others on Wednesday. The blast happened in a busy market, causing panic among people in the area.
Naal Police Station House Officer (SHO) Bahawal Khan Pindrani said the explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) that was attached to a motorcycle. The device was detonated remotely.
“The blast took place at Naal Market, and the injured have been taken to the hospital,” he said.
According to District Health Officer Rafiq Sasoli, two of the injured are in critical condition. He also confirmed that five bodies have been placed in the morgue.

Authorities quickly arrived at the scene, and a bomb disposal squad was deployed to inspect the area for any additional threats.
Khuzdar Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Javed Zehri told a television channel that the explosion happened near a college in the market area. The blast also set several vehicles on fire.
Meanwhile, security forces in Balochistan's Pishin district were able to prevent another planned terror attack. SSP Zehri said that based on intelligence reports, four terrorists were arrested before they could carry out their plan.
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti condemned the attack, calling it an act of terrorism. He instructed authorities to provide the best possible medical treatment to the injured.
"Terrorism will be eliminated in all forms," he said. "Those who want to disturb peace will not succeed. The people responsible for this attack will be punished."
For more than 20 years, Balochistan has faced frequent violent incidents. Just recently, on January 26, two people were killed, and seven others were injured when a car bomb exploded near a passenger bus traveling from Khuzdar to Rawalpindi.
According to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies, there were 79 terrorist attacks in the country last month. These attacks resulted in the deaths of 55 civilians and 47 security personnel, while 45 civilians and 81 security personnel were injured.
In response, counter-terrorism forces have killed 156 terrorists, injured 20, and arrested another 60 during recent operations.
