The Dubai Schools Games (DSG), a flagship initiative under the patronage of the Dubai Sports Council, has announced the launch of its 2024-25 season, emphasizing its ongoing mission to promote inclusion, diversity, and youth sports throughout the UAE. This season is backed by Midea, a global leader in home appliances, who has stepped in as the title sponsor, joining forces with presenting partners Al Nabooda Auto (Volkswagen) and Almarai Emirates Company. Together, these partners aim to enhance education through sports, fostering community engagement and encouraging youth participation across the country.

Ahmed Salem Al Mahri from the Dubai Sports Council expressed his enthusiasm for Midea’s involvement, noting the significance of such a major company’s support. He highlighted Midea's sponsorship as a reflection of the growing importance of the Dubai Schools Games, alongside its well-established partnership with Manchester City FC. He acknowledged the growth of the tournament, which now draws over 9,000 male and female students from more than 180 public and private schools, competing in 22 different sports. Al Mahri pointed out that the tournament serves as a key platform for achieving the Council’s goal of nurturing and developing sporting talent, a crucial part of Dubai’s broader strategy to foster growth in various fields.

He further emphasized that school sports tournaments are foundational in the process of selecting and developing young athletes before they advance to professional clubs. According to him, the Dubai Schools Games plays an essential role in creating future champions, providing students with opportunities to showcase their talents in a range of disciplines. Schools, he explained, form the base of the sports pyramid, serving as the starting point for the country’s broader sports movement.

Paris Li, General Manager of Midea Appliances Middle East & Africa, shared the company’s excitement about partnering with DSG. He highlighted Midea's commitment to improving lives worldwide, noting that meaningful change begins at the local level. Li stated that supporting youth sports aligns with Midea’s mission to foster talent and promote healthier, more active lifestyles. He added that Midea's sponsorship of the Dubai Schools Games embodies the company’s vision of striving for greater heights and encouraging the next generation to reach their full potential.

K Rajaram, CEO of Al Nabooda Automobiles, echoed similar sentiments, expressing his company's pride in joining DSG as a presenting partner. He emphasized that this partnership represents more than just sponsorship—it embodies Al Nabooda’s dedication to community development and the enrichment of youth sports in Dubai. Rajaram remarked that the company aims to inspire excellence and perseverance in young athletes, encouraging them to apply the same dedication to their education and future careers.

Similarly, Almarai Emirates Company has committed to making a positive impact on local communities through its partnership with DSG. Nishit Mathur, Head of Gulf Markets, highlighted the company’s long-standing dedication to investing in activities that uplift and empower communities. Mathur stated that supporting youth sports initiatives contributes to the well-being of local families, fostering teamwork and promoting a healthy lifestyle.

The Dubai Schools Games remains a free and inclusive platform for students, engaging over 9,000 participants from 180 schools in 22 sports this season. The initiative underscores the importance of accessibility, ensuring that all students, regardless of background or ability, can compete and excel. Iconic Dubai venues such as the Emirates Golf Club, Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Stadium, World Padel Academy, Dubai Sports World, and the Hamdan Sports Complex will host these events, providing students with a chance to perform on grand stages.

New developments for the 2024-25 season include the addition of Olympic sports like Handball, Wall Climbing, Fencing, and Table Tennis. These new competitions reflect DSG’s commitment to broadening athletic opportunities for students while helping schools identify and nurture future Olympic talents in the UAE. According to Marco Vocale, Commercial Director of ESM and one of the DSG organizers, the introduction of these Olympic disciplines marks a significant step forward in the tournament’s mission to deeply integrate sports into the educational fabric of Dubai. He added that DSG is not just a competition but a legacy-building platform where students have the opportunity to excel, and schools come together to celebrate not only athletic achievements but the true spirit of sportsmanship.

The DSG Leaderboard will continue to celebrate excellence, recognizing schools' outstanding performances. Last year, awards were given for Team Sports in both primary and secondary schools, along with Rising Stars Awards for exceptional individual athletes. This year’s edition will introduce Dubai School Games Records for select events, raising the level of excitement and competition for all participants.

The season’s grand finale will feature the Unified Games, an inclusive event designed for students of determination. This initiative underscores DSG’s dedication to uniting students of all abilities in a celebration of sportsmanship, inclusion, and community. The Dubai Schools Games is closely aligned with the Dubai Sports Council Strategy and the Dubai Plan 2033, working towards identifying and nurturing young talents not only in sports but also in character and personal growth. By offering students these athletic opportunities, the initiative supports their overall educational development, helping them become well-rounded individuals.

The success of DSG is further bolstered by the unwavering support of its partners. Al Ain Hydration will be providing hydration for students and officials throughout the season, while EMAHS has joined as the medical partner, offering medical support and ambulance services to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.

Kicking off the season will be the Teachers Championships, held at Top Golf Dubai, an event that celebrates educators who play a pivotal role in shaping the lives of young students. The day will provide an opportunity for teachers to network, enjoy friendly competition, and engage with the broader DSG community. Open to all Dubai school educators, the Teachers Championships will be a fun-filled, free event that honors the dedication of the teaching profession.

Dubai Schools Games invites students, teachers, and families to join this season's journey. With free entry for parents and spectators at all events, the DSG initiative is more than just a competition—it is a movement that aims to shape the future leaders of tomorrow through the power of sports.
