Delhi Police Responds to Viral 'Vada Pav Girl' Video Allegations

In response to viral videos depicting a vada pav seller's altercation with police officials in Outer Delhi, the Delhi police clarified that the seller, Chandrika Dixit, known as the "Vada Pav Girl," was not arrested, and no legal case has been lodged against her.

According to police statements, Chandrika Dixit has been operating a food stall in the Mongolpuri area for several months. A recent video posted by Dixit showcased a confrontation between her and locals during a community feast or bhandara organized near her stall.

The police revealed that Dixit's stall was functioning without the requisite permissions from the municipal authorities, drawing a considerable influx of customers and attracting attention from various online content creators. This surge in visitors reportedly led to traffic congestion in the area.

Following complaints from residents regarding a traffic gridlock caused by Dixit's bhandara event on the roadside, law enforcement officers intervened. Allegedly, when the police team arrived at the scene, Dixit displayed hostile behavior towards the officials. Consequently, her stall was confiscated, and she was escorted to the police station for further inquiry.

DCP Outer Delhi emphasized that no formal charges were pressed against Ms. Dixit, clarifying that she was never subjected to arrest.
