Billionaire in Dubai pledges AED3 billion for free cancer treatment center

Dubai-based billionaire Mirwais Azizi has announced a generous donation of Dh3 billion to build a world-class cancer hospital. The hospital will be dedicated to his daughter, Farishta Jan Azizi, who sadly passed away from cancer last year at the age of 32.

Azizi, the chairman of Azizi Group of Companies and a well-known Afghan businessman, made this heartfelt announcement during the 5th Arab Hope Makers award ceremony in Dubai. His contribution is part of the Fathers’ Endowment campaign, an initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

This campaign was initially set with a Dh1 billion target, but Azizi’s donation alone has surpassed that amount, making it the largest contribution ever made to such charitable causes in the UAE.

A Tribute to His Late Daughter

During the event, Azizi and his family paid an emotional tribute to Farishta Jan Azizi. A touching video was played, remembering her life and legacy. Speaking about his decision, Azizi said that the hospital will not only honor his daughter’s memory but will also provide free cancer treatment to those in need.

He emphasized that many patients currently have to travel abroad for advanced cancer care, and his goal is to ensure that they receive high-quality treatment right here in the UAE. Along with treatment, the hospital will also serve as a research center, working towards better ways to fight cancer.

Azizi has been actively involved in many charitable projects before, but this is one of his most significant contributions. He confirmed that the construction of the hospital will begin this year.
