Army Jawan Slap Traffic Violation Bangalore Road, Internet Reacts

Bengaluru's notorious traffic congestion has once again made headlines, but this time, a viral video featuring an unusual traffic discipline method is at the center of the discussion. The video, shared on social media by user Madhur (@ThePacardGuy), captures an army jawan intervening in a traffic dispute in the city, and it has quickly gained attention for its dramatic and controversial content.

The footage, recorded by a car’s dashcam, depicts a chaotic scene on one of Bengaluru's busy roads. The video begins with a car coming to a sudden halt to avoid a scooter approaching from the wrong side. An altercation ensues as the scooter rider demands that the car move aside. The situation intensifies when an army truck on the opposite lane stops and a jawan exits to address the issue.

In the video, the army jawan is seen smacking the motorist on the head for violating traffic rules. The jawan then retrieves a stick or baton from the truck to further discipline the violator, who still refuses to comply. The intervention draws the attention of a nearby traffic police officer, leading the motorist to finally correct their position and move to the proper lane.

The video, posted on X (formerly Twitter) just a day ago, has garnered significant attention, amassing over 499,000 views and more than 11,000 likes. The reaction from viewers has been varied, with many expressing their approval of the jawan's actions while others criticize the need for such intervention.

Comments on the video reflect a range of opinions:

  • "I would gladly pay more taxes to have army trucks patrol Bangalore roads every day," one user wrote.
  • "Those coming from the wrong side should be slapped and spanked before being fined and having their vehicle impounded," another commented.
  • "These guys only tend to follow rules if there is someone to implement them with a stick," noted a third user.
  • "Sadly, our beloved Indian army has to intervene to control these pests internally rather than focusing just on the enemies across the border. Wish we could have better enforcement of rules by the state police and punish offenders more aggressively," a fourth user lamented.
  • "I am all for giving traffic police, including the home guards who help at traffic lights, the right to use the lathi on offenders. Make it a public offense that deserves punishment on the spot. This nuisance and risk need to be mitigated," another user commented.

The incident highlights ongoing frustrations with traffic management in Bengaluru, a city grappling with severe congestion due to rapid urbanization, inadequate planning, and limited public transportation options. As the debate continues online, the video underscores the growing demand for more effective enforcement of traffic regulations in the city.
