Russia carried out a large-scale overnight aerial assault on Ukraine, launching 36 missiles and 242 drones, according to claims by Kyiv. The attack included the use of Russia’s Oreshnik hypersonic missile, which was deployed against strategic targets as part of an intensified military operation.
Russia’s Defence Ministry described the strikes as aimed at key military objectives, while Ukrainian authorities said the scale and sophistication of the assault marked a significant escalation in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. The deployment of advanced hypersonic technology highlighted Russia’s missile capabilities and posed serious challenges to Ukraine’s air defence systems.
The heavy bombardment caused damage to strategic military infrastructure and further intensified the conflict. The use of high-end weaponry and the scale of the attack have also raised broader security concerns across Eastern Europe, underscoring the growing instability in the region as the war continues.
