Social media claims have circulated suggesting that security personnel linked to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev confronted protesters in Washington, D.C. during his official visit, including at the inaugural Board of Peace meeting organized by the U.S. government. However, there has been no official confirmation from the Metropolitan Police Department, U.S. Secret Service, the State Department, or the Azerbaijani Embassy regarding any assault by Aliyev’s security team or any attempted physical attack on the president by demonstrators.
President Aliyev’s visit to Washington included formal diplomatic engagements, discussions on U.S.–Azerbaijan relations, regional security, energy cooperation, and participation in the Board of Peace summit initiated by former President Donald Trump.
At this time, authorities have not released verified figures on injuries or arrests. Law enforcement agencies continue to review footage and witness statements, closely monitoring the situation.
