According to reports from the New York Post, the flight was diverted to Dulles after crew members began experiencing severe nausea and vomiting, with passengers also reported to be in distress.

The situation was serious enough to prompt an emergency landing and a thorough "deep clean" of the aircraft upon arrival at Dulles Airport. Audio from the flight revealed the gravity of the situation: "I talked to the crew and it sounds like it's quite bad back there. The crew is vomiting, and passengers all around are asking for masks," one crew member was heard saying in the distress call.
