Sheikha Hind Launches Family Programme to Empower UAE Families

Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, has introduced the ‘Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Family Programme. This initiative is designed to strengthen the safety, well-being, and happiness of families in Dubai. It focuses on providing financial, social, and educational support to enhance the quality of life, encourage work-life balance, and reinforce community values. 

Her Highness emphasized that this program aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to make families the foundation of a united and happy society. The creativity reflects national priorities aimed at empowering Emirati families, preserving their values, and preparing them to face future challenges. She stated, "Strong families are the key to a better future. We are committed to fulfilling the dreams of every Emirati family in Dubai, ensuring their lasting happiness and stability, and empowering them to raise future generations who can create a brighter tomorrow."

The ‘Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Family Programme’ is a forward-looking creativity offering comprehensive support, including assistance with weddings, housing, and work-life flexibility. It also provides educational resources to help families plan for their financial and personal well-being. The program is part of the Dubai Social Agenda 33, which seeks to strengthen family bonds, foster happiness, and double the number of Emirati families in Dubai by 2033.

Under this program, Dubai Weddings covers the costs of wedding ceremonies and provides free wedding halls and neighborhood Majlises. It offers financial support to both the bride and groom, helping to reduce the financial burden of marriage. In 2024 alone, the Dubai Weddings program facilitated 344 Emirati weddings, accounting for nearly 28% of all such ceremonies in Dubai. It also contributed to a 10% increase in Emirati weddings compared to the previous year.

In its first phase, the program introduces several measures to support families. It offers flexible work arrangements for Dubai government employees, including a 10-day paid marriage leave and the option for mothers to work remotely on Fridays during the first year after maternity leave. Additionally, it reduces monthly housing loan payments to ease financial pressure on young couples, ensuring they can manage their family needs.

These benefits are available to new members of the Dubai Weddings program starting January 4, 2025, with housing support applications open for one year from joining. Future phases of the ‘Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Family Programme’ will expand its offerings to include new packages in education, health, and social services.

To further empower families, the program offers training sessions like the ‘Start it Right’ marital awareness program, which equips young couples with essential skills for building a successful family. This initiative focuses on understanding, mutual respect, and effective communication between spouses. Financial literacy courses are also provided, teaching couples how to manage their resources wisely, save, and plan for long-term financial security. Additionally, the ‘How to Build Your Home’ program guides families on constructing their homes cost-effectively and efficiently.

Emirati citizens in Dubai who plan to marry can register for the Dubai Weddings program through the ‘Emirati’ platform on the Dubai Now app or by contacting the Community Development Authority. Her Highness’s initiative reflects her deep dedication to fostering the stability, growth, and happiness of Emirati families, ensuring a brighter future for generations to come.
