UAE sends 5 bread bakeries to help make bread for people in Gaza

The UAE has dispatched five automated bakeries to the Egyptian city of Al Arish, as part of the preliminary efforts for their entry into the Gaza Strip under the Gallant Knight 3 humanitarian operation, aimed at supporting the people of Palestine.

This move is a response to the severe shortage of bread in the Gaza Strip amid current circumstances. The bakeries provided by the UAE, once operational, are poised to fulfill the daily needs of over 420,000 individuals.

Each bakery has a production capacity of approximately 17,500 loaves per hour. The UAE has taken on the responsibility of supplying flour, diesel, and other necessary materials to ensure the continuous 24-hour operation of these five bakeries. Additionally, the UAE will cover the salaries of the personnel operating and supervising the bakeries in Gaza.

Rashid Mubarak Al Mansouri, ERC Secretary-General, emphasized in a statement that the UAE is committed to sparing no effort in providing essential support for the Palestinians and alleviating the hardships faced by those affected in Gaza.

Al Mansouri noted that the operational bakeries from the UAE will significantly contribute to addressing a substantial portion of the Palestinians' food needs, thereby easing the dire humanitarian conditions they currently endure.

He further highlighted the ERC's ongoing mobilization of relief, human, and logistical resources, reinforcing its programs and humanitarian initiatives within the overarching framework of the Gallant Knight 3 humanitarian operation launched by the UAE to assist the Palestinians.

As of February 17, 2024, the total aid provided by the UAE to the Palestinian people under the "Gallant Knight 3" humanitarian operation exceeded 15,700 tonnes, with 162 cargo planes dispatched. Additionally, the UAE has initiated six water desalination plants, boasting a collective desalination capacity of around 1.2 million gallons per day, directly benefiting the residents of Gaza.
